I am a senior at Washington University in St. Louis interning at Elasticity in PR and marketing for the spring semester. I am completely unpaid due to Wash U’s internship guidelines, but after a few hours at Elasticity, I forgot all about the cash (or lack thereof).
I work in the office three days a week for around four hours at a time and I can honestly say I have learned so much more than I could have ever imagined. Everyone that I have worked with has been nothing short of helpful, encouraging and straight up cool. These aren’t just people that I am proud to call my colleagues, but they’re a crew I can grab a drink with at Tiny Bar, who I can walk to lunch with and have a great conversation on the way.
The tasks you are given and the clients you work with are crucial elements of any job, but the people who surround you are essential to creating a positive internship experience. I’m not just that college kid slaving away on building media lists or running out to grab coffee; I’m actually doing real things, being published on blogs and making moves in the PR world. From writing feature articles for tech blogs to snapping pics at St. Louis Startup Weekend events for social media coverage, I feel legit, and that’s more than a lot of interns can say.
Simply put, there are some great vibes over here. Elasticity is a truly special place full of thinkers, innovators, and people who are genuinely passionate about what they do.
