My heart breaks because it's a Gulf of Mexico I'll never get to see. I've only ever heard of pristine white sand beaches, and the teeming life of the Gulf.. but when (if) I ever go there now.. it will be as if visiting a toxic oil dump, and I'll wear a respirator to protect myself from the fumes too..
What about the people who can't leave?
Is the US Government going to evacuate these people from the spreading poison, or will they try to assure everyone that everything will be just fine...
The chemical dispersants used have created a poisonous brew that will also infect the groundwater and lakes in the region.
We haven't seen the worst of this yet.

We spent an entire week in Destin at the beginning of June. I couldn't help but sit and stare at the ocean knowing it will likely never be the same. My kids made sand castles, waded in the water and scoured the beach for baby jellyfish & sea shells. We visited with friends and while we kept talking about making our vacation together annual, we know it won't be to this area.

And that breaks my heart too. This gorgeous area of our country....simply devastated.

I am sad to think that my little girl may not be able to enjoy the same beaches that her mom and dad did when they were growing up. We had a whole "plan" with our friends for yearly Florida trips with our families but before even half of them have been able to spawn that is looking bleak to say the least
